What we need

Our fast, efficient and cost effective service is based on the assumption that you provide your files to us in a format that is ready to go straight into the DCP process.

Often short films are not finished to the same technical specifications as a major feature film. Therefore it is important you review the following guidelines to produce the best possible file for Digital Cinema Package creation.

    1. 1.  Bring us an exported full resolution version of the FINISHED film. Ideally your exported file should be in a DPX or TIFF format. Otherwise it should be  in Apple Prores 4444 codec or AVID DNxHD 444, the best you can produce.
    2. 2.   Your exported file is at 24fps*
    3. 3.   Your exported file resolution fits the cinema standard of the following type: 2K – FULL 2048 x 1080 FLAT 1998 x 1080 or SCOPE 2048 x 858. 4K – FULL 4096 × 2160, FLAT 3996 × 2160 or SCOPE 4096 × 1716. HD projects will be at 1920 x 1080, which you can upscale or we can do this for you**
    4. 4.   Your mixed audio is at 48khz and in 24-bit WAV or AIFF with separate channels for 5.1 or 3.0 RLC
    5. 5.   You must also supply a low-res export for reference purposes (eg. mp4,quicktime)
    6. 6.   Clearly label your exported file. To help us even further please label it in the following format:  “Night_of_the_Hungry_Dead_FINISHED_FOR_DCP_Stereo_15mins_24fps_23_12_11.mov

* DCP plays at 24fps only. If your project is at 25fps, we can adjust the frame rate for you, the film will become slightly longer and the audio will need to be slowed by 1fps and re-aligned.

** The DCP compliance standard is Flat 1.85 (1998 x 1080) and Scope 2.39 (2048 x 858). We will upscale your pictures to comply with this. Therefore we recommend HD projects be exported as big as they can be to minimise the amount of upscaling required.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or require and further information or assistance with creating your DCP.
